Having strong animal protection laws in place is important – enforcing those laws is equally important. The Animal Cruelty Enforcement Act is now in Congress. The ACE Act would ensure better protection of animals and enhanced community safety by establishing a dedicated Animal Cruelty Crimes Division at the Department of Justice to aid in the investigation, enforcement, and prosecution of felony animal cruelty crimes. It may help to have a federal bill to support local groups around the country better enforce their local cruelty laws.
