Update: $250,000 / 2023 Stanton Canine Grant in summer of 2023 went to 12 brick-and-mortar animal shelters.

Here is the story of that grant:

The Stanton Foundation grant programs promote the welfare of dogs and strengthen the human/dog bond.
The Stanton Foundation is providing an opportunity for a capital improvement grant to the following:
Government Animal Services (brick and mortar facility operated by municipal or county government to provide animal sheltering services to citizens of specific county/counties or community/communities). 
OR
-Animal Shelter with Government Contract (brick and mortar facility operated by non-profit organization that is contracted by county or municipal government(s) to provide animal sheltering services to their citizens)
OR
-Animal Shelter without Government Contract (brick and mortar facility operated by non-profit organization that is NOT contracted by county or municipal government(s), and that takes in and places animals)

This grant of $250,000 will be dispersed thru FOHO WV to eligible organizations, not to exceed $30,000 per grant.  FOHO WV does not expect that the funds will cover all requests. Please be advised that funds will be granted based on the strength of your application and how your organization plans to improve the health and welfare of the dogs in your care.   Note the dates that this grant award period is an entire year

Friday, August 18, 2023: Application Deadline

The following documents are to be emailed to info@fohowv.org on or before the deadline:
1) Application – Before starting your application, please download the Word document named “SF4 2023 Grant Application” and enable editing.  Save, renaming the file ”SF4 2023 YOUR ORG NAME”.   You now have a working document that can be edited and saved.  
2) For 501(c)3 organizations attach IRS Determination Letter – unless you received the 2023 WVSNP grant. 
The application and the cover letter are below. Be sure to download both to ensure you have all necessary information.
Make sure you receive a confirming email. We will send one for EVERY application we receive. If you do not receive this email, we did NOT receive your application.

January 15, 2024:  Mid-Year Report Deadline (O
rganization’s mid-year report must include a 200 word narrative review of the grant, including how it has or will improve canine lives, description of use/project, and any picture you wish to provide. In addition, you may also submit this as your final report by submitting documents listed IF you have completed your grant and spent your funding.  See Oct. 15 requirements.      

October 15, 2024:  Final Report Deadline

Organization’s final report must include:  An updated narrative and copies of all invoices/receipts that show date, organization’s name and address, item description, and amount spent for every expense that total the amount of the grant.
